Joy Without Guilt
A SELF-PACED COURSE FOR PEOPLE WHO GIVE DEEPLY- And are ARE READY TO STOP FEELING BAD FOR DOING SOMETHING FOR THEMSELVES.
What if joy didn’t require justification?
Joy Without Guilt is a reflective, self-paced course designed for people who care deeply, give generously, and often put themselves last — and are ready to experience joy without apologizing, explaining, or earning it.
This course invites you to examine the quiet beliefs that tell you joy is indulgent, rest must be earned, and your needs come second — and gently replace them with something more sustainable.
If You’ve Ever Felt This Way…
-
You want more joy, ease, or pleasure — but feel guilty when you reach for it
-
You’re excellent at showing up for others, but struggle to prioritize yourself
-
You’ve learned to be “responsible,” “selfless,” or “strong,” even when it costs you
-
You worry that choosing joy means letting someone else down
-
You sense something is missing, but can’t quite name it
You’re not alone.
Many people in caring, service-based professions internalize the belief that joy is optional, selfish, or something to save for “later.” Over time, that belief quietly drains energy, creativity, and fulfillment.
Joy Without Guilt is an invitation to pause — and choose differently.
This course is for you if…
- You are an ASL interpreter or work in a service-oriented profession
- You identify as a woman who overgives and feels responsible for others’ comfort
- You want personal growth that also supports professional sustainability
- You are tired of pushing through and ready for a more humane way of living
- You want reflection, not pressure — permission, not performance
This is personal work that supports professional longevity.

This 1.0 PS CEU course supports PS (professional studies) in self-care by examining the relationship between emotional well-being, environmental factors, and professional effectiveness. Grounded in research from positive psychology and environmental psychology, the course draws on evidence demonstrating that positive emotional experiences, such as joy, contribute to cognitive flexibility, resilience, and improved interpersonal functioning (Fredrickson, 2001). Additionally, research indicates that the physical environment—including exposure to natural elements, light, and sensory stimuli—can significantly impact stress levels, recovery, and overall mental health (Ulrich, 1984; Kaplan & Kaplan, 1989). Participants engage in reflective and applied practices designed to increase self-awareness, support emotional regulation, and promote sustainable well-being. These competencies are directly related to maintaining ethical, effective, and client-centered professional practice. By strengthening their ability to manage stress, remain present, and respond with openness and flexibility, participants reduce the risk of burnout and enhance the quality of services provided.
- Identify the relationship between joy, emotional well-being, and mental health as it relates to professional functioning
- Describe the impact of environmental factors (e.g., light, nature, color, and design) on emotional regulation and overall well-being
- Explain the role of experiencing a full range of emotions (including joy and sorrow) in supporting psychological health and resilience
- Apply strategies to increase experiences of joy and support self-care to enhance presence, responsiveness, and effectiveness in professional practice
