This CEU webinar will focus on the identities we hold of ourselves and the possible internalization of “identities” that others hold of us. We will discuss the types of oppression women and girls face and Work through the ways in which our empowerment has a direct impact on the empowerment of our clients.
This webinar is designed for Interpreters seeking RID and BEI CEU opportunities, but it is open to everyone.
In this course, we will focus on the identities we hold of ourselves and the possible internalization of “identities” that others hold of us in addition to discussing the types of oppression women and girls face. We will use the framework from the book “Women’s Ways of Knowing’ to identify how we know what we know and where we are on the journey of our knowing and even review the work of Simone De Beauvoir PhD and define what it means to be “The Other” to men. We will also list ways in which our empowerment has a direct impact on the empowerment of our clients/ consumers. If I do not have a strong voice, how can I be a strong “voice” for others? We will discuss how we will move forward in our journey of empowering ourselves and other women and girls. Allies of women and girls are welcome to attend.
“I truly enjoyed the PPO workshop Tracey Lynn Huguley hosted. I was challenged to think “out of the box” because of the content and conversations. The resources referred by her were an excellent supplement! I would definitely take more workshops from her aiding my personal growth and perspective!” – Alycen H
